2013 Favorites

2013 has been a great year! It's been fun and crazy, and I've learned so many things about myself! Here are my top ten favorite things from 2013!

ONE : New York, New York. This city is the pinnacle of perfection. I am utterly obsessed with it's hustling, bustling ways and I want to explore it more! New York is pretty much the center of the universe. Not only do the beautiful buildings and opportunities draw me in, but the people do as well. The humans of New York are wonderful people with individual stories! That realization leads on to my second favorite!!

TWO : Humans of New York is a photoblog and bestselling book featuring street portraits and interviews collected in New York City. It was founded in November 2010 by photographer Brandon Stanton, who has done thousands of portraits. This is a lovely, lovely book and I encourage everyone to check it out! The stories are heartwarming and my awareness of the world has grown immensely.

THREE : Books. Books are the best way to escape reality and live in a completely different world...if only for a few seconds. I've read so many eye opening, beautiful books this year. Being addicted to books isn't necessarily a bad thing, so I'm completely okay with it. A few of the books I read this year are: The Fault in Our StarsThe Boys in the BoatInferno, and I Am Malala. All are great books that I would readily recommend!

FOUR : The Mahogany Sessions! They deliver great music every week. The artists that they pick are truly talented and I'm so proud of how much they've grown this past year.

FIVE : Kate Spade probably makes the cut every year. Not only are the clothes and the shoes beautiful, but the lifestyle is as well. A Kate Spade girl is "quick, curious, playful, and strong". Perfect. Kate Spade is a way of life, and I love that.

SIX : Nail Polish. I really was never big on nail polish, but I am officially addicted! I love all the reds, pinks, and shades of navy. The painted nails look is so sophisticated and clean!

SEVEN : Ivy & Cedar. This blog itself has been a new adventure for me. It has helped me to get back on my feet after a tough time and have some fun. I hope that this blog will continue to help me to grow as a person!

EIGHT : College. Boy am I excited to go to college! This past year I've done a couple of visits, but it's something that I'm hoping will continue! This prospect is daunting in so many ways, but I get tingles every time I think about it! I'm honestly shooting for someplace in the East Coast (and hey, California is pretty perfect too). We'll see where life takes me.

NINE : Arm Candy. I used to be the kind of girl that liked a simple pearl necklace and a pair of pearl earrings. That was the extent I delved into jewelry. 2013 has been a year of bracelets for me! You'd be so surprised by how many I have. It's getting pretty crazy!

TEN : Never Giving Up. This simple phrase is something that I have lived by this year. I never want to forget this. I've gone through "issues" with friends, family problems, and so many other difficulties. All these obstacles have taught me to never give up. It always gets better if you believe and stick to it!

Quote of the Year (mostly because it's beautifully written) : Tomorrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther....So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.
