Book Love

Who doesn't love reading? Books take you into their worlds and take you on a completely unique adventure that you couldn't find anywhere else. I've been so busy as of late, but I always try to find at least thirty minutes to sit myself down and read a little. I also am pretty much obsessed with creating recommendation lists. It just gets my blood pumping.

These are wonderful books if you're in the mood for:

A true, deep, and detailed crime novel

Some serious entertainment

Poems and Imagination

Chills up and down your spine

A unique yet beautiful story

I feel like this reading list is pretty long already so I'll stop here. But if anybody wants recommendations, but don't hesitate to contact me! And if anybody has any recommendations for me, shoot me an email too!

Do you have any favorite books?

Sprinkle of Inspo and a Dash of Motivation

As a very wise person (Zig Ziglar, to be exact) once said,

“People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.”

I've been having some trouble with motivation and inspiration these past few days. I'm not sure if it's the fact that it's been snowing cats and dogs or whether it's because I've been stressed. I've desperately needed a dose of motivation and inspiration to get myself going. The funniest thing is that I've always thought that I needed to go on an adventure or see something outstanding to get motivated and inspired. What I've been learning these past few weeks is that is simply not the case. There is inspiration in everything, you just have to find it. Inspiration can come from the silliest places, like a textbook (Thanks Econ) or that kid across the street who idolizes you.

Recently my kid neighbor has motivated me to work SO much harder at everything. After a while, all responsibilities start to seem so unbearable. On Sunday, I honestly was so stressed, I felt like I couldn't handle it. The next day, as I was babysitting her, my 8-year-old neighbor told me she wanted to be exactly like me when she grew up. That one sentence actually had me so excited to get to school the next day. I took a walk with my friend (and her adorable dog) this evening, and the snow, her jokes, and her dog's happy nature inspired me to de-stress. The lesson for today has been to find motivation and inspiration in, long walks, shopping, doggies, kids, and all the other awesome things in life. Life is great. Make sure you spend it in wonder and awe with an inspired nature and a happy-go-lucky attitude.

And a Kennedy photo always helps me to get inspired:)

What gets you motivated?

Chocolate, Life, And Other Sweet Things

I'm a firm believer in chocolate, romantic comedies, and laughter. I think these three things can cure anything. I know...I'm such a girl! But honestly, this Tuesday is quite a tiring one. The day seems to be going a little more slowly than usual and I can't wait to get home and relax! But just to keep myself going for Wednesday, I'm going to make a list of things I'm thankful for. (That's the best way to count your blessings). The little things in my life make me the happiest. These may not be the deepest, most serious blessings in my life, but I couldn't imagine my life without them.

1. My mother
2. Chocolate
3. Monograms
4. Pinterest
5. TV
6. The sun
7. Blankets
8. Kind people
9. Tea
10. Coffee
11. Late nights with no makeup and friends

Starry Nights

All this winter snow has got me thinking about summertime! I miss the twinkling lights of the sky, the smell of the sweet grass, the soft sounds of night animals, and the sound of my friends' laughter. There's nothing that gets me more excited than the hope of another great summer yet to come. I woke up this morning reminiscing about all the great times I've had. Most of my summer this year will consist of college visits and future planning, but I know I will have to save some time to go star gazing. These summertime memories always remind me that it's nice to stop thinking once in a while. Stop worrying about the future, stop thinking about every little detail. Some of the best times happen when you let yourself go, and though that usually happens during summertime for me, I hope I can incorporate this little mantra into my daily life. So here's to a day of no thinking, no worrying, and relaxation!

Craze of the Week: Eyebrow Gods

I was born with pretty thick hair. I have a mane of crazy hair and thick eyebrows to match. I used to have so much trouble with thick eyebrows (I hated them), but I've grown to absolutely love having strong brows. I adore the look on others as well (Lily Collins, anyone?). My my! All these ladies have mastered the art of sculpted, beautiful brows.

Do you like the strong eyebrows look?

Let's Go Chicago

This trip has been planned since November and it's finally here. I'm going to Chicago with about 20 other people for a conference next week. I must say, time really flies when you're busy! I completely forgot about this little adventure and was completely caught off guard when someone asked me what I was packing! It's only for four days, but I absolutely hate packing for these not short, but not long kinds of trips. I bought a new bag that I'm looking forward to trying out, and I can't wait to pack it up with everything. It's a beautifully made jacquard London Fog bag (picture below). At the same time, however, I'm also a bit nervous to stray away from my usual large Longchamp because I've used it for so long, but change is good!

This just recently went on SALE!! My mom paid $50 less for this than what I did! So check it out :-)

10 Ways To Be A Better You

In a way, this is the largest self reflection time I've had in a while. I sat down and tried to think of ways that I could be a better me (and a more honest, kind, and silly me also!). I decided to come up with a list (after all, making lists is what I do best). So, with the intention to add a bit of inspiration and humor into everyone's day, I thought I'd share my thoughts!

The Rules of (My) Life are as follows:

1.  Good people go far. So do kind things for everyone.

2. Learn something from every person you meet.

3. Don't forget to take a moment and smell the flowers.

4. Make sure you're comfortable by yourself. You're going to be spending the most time with you in life, so make sure you love YOU.

5. Never give up. People will be mean and say rude things. Use that as motivation.

6. Always choose the adventure. You can't re-do life.

7. Never write yourself off. It's only in your head where you feel weak or inferior. You are not.

8. Everything is on the other side of fear. You have to take risks and venture outside of your comfort zone.

9. Dress in a manner that makes you feel confident. You're at your best when you feel your best.

10. Hakuna Matata, it means no worries. Never forget this.

What are some of your life rules?

Valentine's Day Goodies For Her

I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day. I find myself, more often than not, staying home with movie, take out, and a tub of chocolate. However, I do love receiving little gifts! They may not be from that special someone that I (don't) have in my life, but they usually are from people I love. So here are some ideas to brighten the day of those you love!

What are your favorite things to receive on Valentine's Day?

Feel Good Movies

Okay, I'm admit it, I'm a movie junkie. Whenever I'm feeling down, bored, or just fired up I go straight for my "feel good" movie collection. Now, this is not a stack of Oscar-worthy, intense, dramatic, thought-provoking movies. This is a set of laugh-out-loud, sit-back-and-enjoy, go-along-for-the-ride movies.

ONE: Topping off my list is Horrible Bosses. This is the funniest movie I have experienced in a long time. It makes me laugh so hard I start to cry, and that's exactly the feeling I want.

TWO: Breakfast At Tiffany's. It doesn't get much better than this. You can’t go wrong with Audrey Hepburn. I always get swept up in all of her wonderful fantasy worlds.

THREE: I pretty much want to be Ferris Bueller. Ferris Bueller's Day Off always reminds me that life moves pretty fast, and if you don't stop and look around, you could miss it.

FOUR: Tangled, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Anastasia, Toy StoryUp, and practically any other animated movie. Animated movies always sweep you into a completely different, more exciting world of pretend. And this is the best way to escape any bad day.

Take a moment and watch all these if you haven't. (I dare you to try and do it in a day ;-) )

On My Radar

Bing's Celebrating the Heroic Women of 2013. This is so inspiring. I got the shivers just watching it. Lovely and beautifully done.

Mulberry Ad Featuring Cara Delevingne: Can you say beautiful?

Ordinary Love from the movie Mandela. This is an absolutely brilliant original song.

What gave you the shivers this week?

15 Fun Facts About Me

ONE: I'm insanely addicted to pistachio ice cream. I love it. I have no idea and I honestly think I'm weird for liking it, but I guess we can't help what we love, right? :-)

TWO: I need music in the background to work...but music with no words. So I have instrumentals of every song you could possibly imagine.

THREE: Favorite thing about myself? My hair and eyebrows. Least favorite thing? My height (I'm short) and my thin lips.

FOUR: Things I get unnecessarily excited about? Cup O' Noodles and The Oscars (and any other award ceremony).

FIVE: I'm terrified of my dermatologist because he's attractive and I'm not so scared of my dentist because my aunt is my dentist.

SIX: My handwriting changes DAILY. They say that you can tell a lot about a person by their handwriting, but mine is never the same! (That's a little scary)

SEVEN:  I was only 4 pounds and 7 ounces when I was born.

EIGHT: I've never been to the southern part of the United States. (Besides southern California, but that doesn't really count)

NINE: I've never been to a concert. Of any kind. Ever. (Zzzz...I am so boring. We'll have to fix that!)

TEN: I'm addicted to bad movies. Like most romantic comedies and action adventure films.

ELEVEN: I have always written in a quote of the day for every day in my planner.

TWELVE: I hate fruity gum flavors. Yuck! (But I never Yuck someone's Yum, so if you like fruity gum, good for you.)

THIRTEEN: I got an IPhone this year. Like 5 months ago and I'm addicted to it. (I'm a little late to hop on the bandwagon).

FOURTEEN: I like to dance and sing. I'm not good at it...but I like it.

FIFTEEN: Dark Chocolate & Milk Chocolate > White Chocolate and Caramel.

What are some quirky facts about you?

Sayings of The Day

So I'm going to be honest. It's around this time of the week when I stop wanting to dress nicely and start wanting to wear sweats everywhere. And that is just not acceptable. Quotes give me so much inspiration, especially when it comes to clothing. So I thought, what better than some cute little sayings to help me get some style inspiration!

What is your fashion inspiration?

Obsession of The Week

Obviously, with the polar vortex and all, it was freezing! This week my life revolved around my Klean Kanteen thermos!! This is the best invention EVER. I had such a busy week and had to leave my house every day. If I bought this thermos, I honestly don't know what I would've done! This this is wonderful and kept my coffee/ hot chocolate/ tea warm for hours. I'm not even kidding. If you're a Northerner like me, this will be a wonderful investment for wintertime (and it just looks so adorable too).

What's your favorite wintertime item?
